Last night I decided to spend a little time trying to start configuring my websites and review the inLearning Joomla tutorials. It will take a while but I'll eventually get to that. I spent a good bit of time yesterday researching multi camera recording so when summer arrives and school is finished I will have a better idea about how I want to implement the system to enhance the workflow for capturing music performances and and lesson ideas for the Youtube channel and to facilitate remote collaboration from virtually any point in the studio. I will continue working on this as I get time and will gradually finish defining the specifications for arranging all the components of the studio. Right now the general idea is to build the main computer from scratch with components appropriate for supporting the volume of video and sound I will be recording and editing. I may also consider using separate computers for sound and video but haven't decided yet. This project dovetails nicely into the final project for the Music Technology class which is to 'build a mock-up home studio that suits [my] budget and [my] needs.' This has been an ongoing process for me for many years and I will be putting some of this information in the recording section of this site as I develop it but I don't want to commit to having it truly reflective of my studio until I get around to actually implementing the project. The other aspect of this project is the requirement to choose my profession from composing for media (film, video games, commercials, etc), mixing and mastering audio (i.e. recording bands), and podcast/radio/voiceover work. I will be mostly concerned with the first two although the voiceover work will also be required to support the instructional videos on the Youtube channel. I've still got two weeks to finish the project for the class but I intend to use this to reflect my particular interests which go beyond the scope of this assignment.
In terms of the other classes, I still have a good bit of work to do and would like to go ahead and record parts of my practices to send to my instructors prior to my lessons so that I can make optimal use of the lesson times but I'm not sure I'll get to that this semester. I also have a lot of stuff to do for my Spanish class and I have a paper to write for the Popular Music History class as well as some discussion posts that are due today in both so I am going to put this away for now and work on the things due today and tomorrow.
