{jcomments off}I got this around 1984 and used it sparingly and don't have any tapes that I tried to make. I kept it around and would occasionally dabble with it but never created anything I was remotely satisfied with until I made a recording of 'We Have Heaven' by Yes in 2011. Unfortunately, while I was trying to finalize that recording the tape got wrapped around the pinch roller destroying the tape. I tried to contact Teac to get a replacement for the pinch roller but the company would not respond to my inquires. Through an internet search I found someone who would rebuild the part if I sent him the original. According to him the rubber used in that recorder was not properly cured and would decompose over time causing it to become sticky resulting in tapes being destroyed as described above. Because of this I've never purchased any subsequent products from this company. As an aside, I have a similar problem with the modulation and pitch bend wheels on my M-Audio Keystation 49es. It's disgusting to use those controllers because of that stickiness. Anyway, the incident with the Tascam prompted me to start looking into acquiring a DAW. I was almost ready to put up the $400 plus it would cost me to get Sonar when I was fortunate to stumble upon Reaper which at the time cost only $45 and I've been using it ever since.
